LESSON PLAN: COMMUNITY LANGUAGE LEARNING

Sebelumnya saya pernah memposting metode pembelajaran Community Language Learning (CLL), sekarang pada postingan kali ini saya akan memberi sebuah contoh lesson plan menggunakan metode CLL pada materi greeting untuk meningkatkan kemampuan conversation.

Time                                : 2 X 35 Minutes (1 Meeting)

 A.    Competency Standards

Speaking

Reveal the simple instructions and information in the classroom context.

B.     Basic Competency

Conversing to accompany the action involving thanking speech acts:  introducing oneself, greeting, farewell salute, and gestured.

C.    Indicators of achievement

  1. Understanding and responding the instructions heard verbally.
  2. Expressing the simple instructions

D.    Learning Object

  1. The students can understand and respond the conversation.
  2. The students be able to share and expressing about their feelings.
  3. The students can speak English without anxiety or feel threatened.

E.     Character Students Expected

  2. Responsibility

  6. Respect and attention

F.     Teaching Materials

The syllabus is designed by the students.

The Community Language Learning Method.

H.    Teaching Activities

1.    Pre Activities

Apperception and motivation:

–       The teacher greets the students and preparing the class to get a conducive learning atmosphere (the chairs made a circle).

–       The teacher introduces himself, and has the students introduce themselves.

2.    Main Activities

@ Exploration:

–       The teacher tells the students what they are going to do. Explains the procedure of the first activity and sets a time limit.

–       Students have a conversation and the teacher stands behind the students.

–       The teacher translates what the students want to say in chunks.

@ Elaboration:

–       Students are invited to talk about how they felt during the conversation and the teacher accepts what each student says.

–       The teacher asks the students to form a semicircle in front of the blackboard so they can see easily.

–       The students listen to the tape and give the Indonesian translate.

–       The teacher pause the tape before puts in the Indonesian equivalents. If no one volunteers the meaning, the teacher writes it himself.

–       The teacher reassures the students that they will have time later on to copy the sentences.

–       The teacher reads the transcript three times. The students relax and listen.

–       The students choose which phrase they want to practice pronouncing, the teacher following the student’s lead, repeats the phrase until the learners is satisfied and stops. (the Human Computer)

–       The students have to listen carefully to see if what they say matches what the teacher is saying.

@ Confirmation:

–       Students work together in the small groups and the teacher helping the group.

–       The students share the task to the other members of the class.3.    Post Activities

–       The teacher plays the tape while the students listen.

–       The students are once again invited to talk about the experience they had.

–       Other activities with the transcript of the first conversation occur. Then the learners have a new conversation.

Assessment is used:

  1. Assessment process through the involvement of the student during the learning.
  2. Written test, a product of student work.
  3. Verbal test, such as the practice of the conversation and speaking in front of class.
